A CHARITY AT THE HEART OF A COMMUNITY
Ukraine Charity lives and thrives on the initiative of many volunteers in London and around the world. Our supporters have completed marathons and fun runs in New York, Copenhagen, Berlin and many other exciting places to support our cause. They have sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Elbrus. They have sung Christmas carols, played theatre, published books and held an art auction. Each challenge is accompanied by a fundraising drive on either the Virgin Money or the JustGiving platform, and now also on Facebook.
Ukraine Charity also organises an annual Ivana Kupala summer evening fundraising party. Ivana Kupala is an ancient Ukrainian tradition marking the summer solstice. It is a night of mysticism, romance and rich symbolism, where young lads and lassies leaped over bonfires, performed ritual dances, and bathed themselves in the river as an act of purification. Ukraine Charity has had to modernise the festivities ever so slightly, but the general atmosphere of the traditional Ivana Kupala is still preserved! Do you have an idea for a Ukraine Charity fundraiser? Don't keep it to yourself, let us know! |
